There are hazards to eating fish and seafood

Eliminating fish and seafood is one of the final steps towards totally becoming a vegetarian and deriving the health benefits of a vegetarian diet.

Firstly, fish and seafood should only be eaten if it has fins and scales. Per Leviticus 11:9.

All the rest, lobsters, crabs, shell fish, etc. are the garbage collectors of the sea, and God says they are an abomination to us. Leviticus 11:10-12

Think about what we dump into the ocean. Our waste and trash gets hauled into the ocean, if it doesn’t go into a landfill. Lobsters are known to thrive around those sewage pumps emptying into the sea.

My husband does not like to swim in the ocean anymore, because the beautiful beach that he grew up swimming in has changed. When you stand in the water the sand feels slimy. It’s a definite turn off to those of us who know how the sand felt years before.

However, our son stated to his father, “you will not swim in the sea but you will eat the fish out of the same sea, and it goes inside your system!”

So there are hazards to eating fish and seafood. Humans have done harm to the environment that has had a direct effect on the fish and other seafood eaten. Think of the millions of gallons of oil that have been dumped from oil tanker accidents.

A well-balanced diet that includes a variety of fish is said to contribute to heart health. Fish are said to contain high-quality protein and other essential nutrients, are low in saturated fat, and contain omega-3 fatty acids.

However, nearly all fish and shellfish contain traces of mercury. Still for many the risk from mercury by eating fish and shellfish is not a health concern.

Yet, some fish and shellfish may contain high enough levels of mercury to harm an unborn baby or young child's developing nervous system.

The risks from mercury in fish and shellfish depend on the amount of fish and shellfish eaten and the levels of mercury in the fish and shellfish.

Therefore, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are advising women who may become pregnant, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and young children to avoid some types of fish and eat fish and shellfish that are lower in mercury.

The risk of giving birth to a baby with defects is extremely high.

Eliminating fish and seafood is one of the final steps towards totally becoming a vegetarian and deriving the health benefits of a vegetarian diet.
