Disadvantages of a Vegetarian Diet?
What are the disadvantages of a vegetarian diet?
For me there’s eating out, and eating when traveling. If you go to a restaurant it is best to check before hand about what they have for vegetarians.
Many restaurants now cater to vegetarians or you can choose items from their menu like vegetables and salads. However some restaurants are still clueless.
Asian restaurants tend to have nice vegetable dishes, and Italian restaurants, if not already on the menu, can put together vegetable pastas for you.
When traveling through major airports you normally find Asian restaurants that offer noodles or rice with vegetables, which are good. In many malls across America you can find the same Asian menus in the food courts.
My favorite Asian restaurant is Indian. They usually have a large variety of sauces made with different legumes (such as lentils) and vegetables. The only problem is the seasonings; they can be very hot. Though they offer mild, even that can be hot for some.
Sometimes it is difficult even when eating in the homes of friends and families. Simply offer to bring a dish to supplement the meal.
What other disadvantages of a vegetarian diet are there? For me it is trying to keep it healthy
while traveling with out it getting monotonous. Oh! Did I mention airplane food? It seems it’s better to throw out the meat then to order a vegetarian meal. Is it rocket science?
Keep it simple, plenty fruits and vegetables, trail mixes etc.
